]]> “Mischief Emerging” is the first sculpture in the Hatchling series, capturing the exact moment a young dragon breaks into the world with equal parts curiosity and attitude. Cast in solid bronze, this piece shows a newly emerged dragonling perched on the cracked shell of its egg, claws hooked over the edge as it pulls itself up to survey its new domain.

The detailing is deliberate and bold: textured scales, a ridged spine, curled horns, and a set of small wings that already hint at future trouble. The polished, high-contrast eyes give the hatchling a sharp, alert expression—like it’s sizing up its next move.

The egg itself is sculpted with deep fracture lines and natural contours, grounding the creature with a sense of real weight and motion. The patina brings out the layered textures across both shell and scales, giving the entire piece an aged, mythic presence.

They are also magnificent to watch in free flight! In the wild they hang out in lowland rainforests and savannas from eastern Panama to Brazil. They gather at fruiting trees and clay licks. Their call is quite loud!
